Foundation Design for Equipment & Dynamic Analysis

This course provides practical knowledge of foundation design for major industrial equipment such as horizontal heat exchangers, compressors, and vertical vessels. It introduces the key principles involved in selecting suitable foundation systems for static and dynamic equipment. Participants will understand equipment loads, load transfer, foundation configuration, and basic design considerations. The course covers the behavior of foundations supporting rotating and vibrating machinery. Special emphasis is placed on dynamic analysis of foundations subjected to equipment-induced vibrations. Participants will learn about vibration characteristics, natural frequency, resonance, damping, and soil-foundation interaction. The course also discusses foundation requirements for vertical vessels and horizontal equipment. Practical considerations related to equipment drawings, anchor bolts, foundation dimensions, and construction requirements are included. Participants will develop an understanding of how to assess foundation performance under operating and dynamic loads.
