About this role
What you'll be doing day-to-day.
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will support supplier quality assurance activities to ensure that incoming materials and components meet defined quality standards. The role involves working closely with suppliers, procurement, and internal quality teams to drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance with automotive quality systems.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, sheet metal, etc.) • Knowledge of quality fundamentals and inspection methods • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset • Good communication and coordination skills
What you'll do
The core responsibilities expected from this role.
Assist in evaluating and onboarding new suppliers through quality assessments • Support Supplier Quality Audits (process audits, system audits) • Monitor incoming material quality and analyze defects/rejections • Coordinate with suppliers to resolve quality issues using structured problem-solving methods • Participate in root cause analysis using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa) • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) • Review supplier documents such as PPAP submissions, control plans, and inspection reports • Track supplier performance metrics (PPM, rejection rates, on-time delivery quality) • Work with cross-functional teams (procurement, production, quality) to ensure smooth operations • Maintain documentation in line with quality standards such as IATF 16949
Technical Skills
• Basic knowledge of quality tools: 7 QC tools, 5 Why analysis, Pareto charts • Understanding of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP basics • Familiarity with engineering drawings and GD&T concepts • Basic knowledge of measurement tools (vernier caliper, micrometer, gauges) • Exposure to Excel for data tracking and reporting • Awareness of quality standards such as ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
