What you'll be doing day-to-day.
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Well Control Trainer to deliver high-impact, industry-standard training and assessment modules on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will facilitate classroom instruction, simulation exercises, and assessments aligned with IWCF (Level 3/4) and IADC WellSharp (Supervisor Level) accreditations. This role offers flexible scheduling, making it ideal for active or semi-retired field supervisors, wellsite leaders, or specialized technical consultants.
What you'll do
The core responsibilities expected from this role.
1. Course Delivery & Facilitation
Prepare and deliver technical training modules covering advanced well control theory, wellbore hydraulics, kick detection, shut-in procedures, and volumetric/stripping methods.
Facilitate hands-on simulator training (DrillSIM / CS Simulation) for both surface and subsea stack scenarios.
Apply adult learning principles and Crew Resource Management (CRM) / Human Factors to foster critical decision-making and emergency leadership skills.
2. Assessment & Compliance
Administer, invigilate, and evaluate written exams and simulator assessments in strict compliance with IWCF and IADC WellSharp standards.
Maintain complete training logs, candidate records, and accreditation paperwork.
Stay current with evolving industry standards, well integrity management frameworks, and local regulatory updates.
3. Curriculum Support & Maintenance
Provide feedback to instructional designers to update course materials, kill sheet templates, and case studies based on actual field events.
Ensure all simulator software, hardware, and classroom aids are fully operational prior to training sessions.
