What you'll be doing day-to-day.

Position: Oil and Gas Operator

Department: Operations / Production

Reports To: Shift Supervisor / Production Manager


Job Summary:

The Oil and Gas Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and maintaining oil and gas production processes and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The role involves operating field or plant equipment, troubleshooting issues, adhering to safety and environmental standards, and optimizing production output.



Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related field (preferred).

  • Prior experience as an operator in oil & gas, petrochemical, or refinery industry.

  • Strong knowledge of process operations, equipment handling, and safety standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret process diagrams, technical manuals, and operating procedures.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Physically fit to work in challenging outdoor/field environments.

  • Willingness to work in shifts and remote locations.


Work Environment:

  • Field-based and/or plant environment with exposure to high-pressure systems, hazardous materials, and outdoor conditions.

  • Rotational shifts and extended working hours may be required

What you'll do

The core responsibilities expected from this role.

  • Operate and monitor oil and gas processing equipment, pipelines, compressors, separators, pumps, and valves.

  • Perform regular inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of machinery and systems.

  • Record and analyze production data, flow rates, pressures, and temperatures to maintain optimal efficiency.

  • Start up, shut down, and adjust process units as per operating procedures.

  • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues, reporting abnormalities to supervisors.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and regulatory standards.

  • Assist in emergency response drills and act according to safety protocols during incidents.

  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for repairs and upgrades.

  • Maintain accurate logs, shift handovers, and production reports.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production reliability and efficiency.
