·       Mud engineering, also known as drilling fluid engineering, is a specialized field in petroleum engineering. Drilling fluids play a critical role in the drilling process by stabilizing the borehole, controlling formation pressures, cooling and lubricating the drill bit, and carrying cuttings to the surface.
