Logistics management is the governance of supply chain management functions that helps organizations plan, manage and implement processes to move and store goods. For example, in the natural gas industry, logistics involves managing the pipelines, trucks, storage facilities, and distribution centers that handle oil as it is transformed along the supply chain. A logistics management system underpins that effort and includes inbound and outbound transportation management, warehouse management, fleet management, order processing, inventory control, supply and demand forecasting, and managing third-party logistics service providers. The primary goal of logistics management is to provide better customer service. Logistics management aims to eliminate processing errors by establishing a streamlined process flow.
