Course details

To explain how safety of LPG storage installation is ensured,  relevant rules and safe operating practices

LPG is highly inflammable and just 1.8% of it, mixed  with surrounding atmosphere  can form flammable mixture. So even minor leakage can be hazardous. This module of the 8 module  course, focuses on what measures are taken to ensure that there are no leakages and even if there are accidental leakage or some essential operational leakages, it  will disperse safely; and also that there is no chance of ignition of the flammable mixture.

Sufficient distances between various equipment ensure enough space for dispersion of leaked gas.

Flameproof electrical enclosures play an important role in ensuring that there is no spark anywhere in the storage installation.

Leak detectors and connected fire water systems, supported by other fire protection measures are provided to avoid mishaps.

SMPV rules, formulated by PESO  specify details of various mandatory provisions to ensure safety.

This module discusses these things in details.
