Introduction to Mechanical Engineering Drawing
Why enroll
Participants join this course to learn the basics of engineering drawing and how technical designs are created. It helps them understand different types of drawings used in engineering and manufacturing. The course also teaches how to use drawing tools and basic CAD software. Overall, it helps students improve their technical drawing skills for studies and future careers.
Course details
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of engineering drawing. It begins with the fundamentals of drawing, including an understanding of drawing instruments, scales, and standard conventions used in technical drawings. The course then covers orthographic projections, where students learn to create and interpret multiview drawings such as top, front, and side views. It also introduces isometric and oblique drawings to help visualize and represent objects in three dimensions. Further, the course explains sectional views, enabling students to create and interpret drawings that show the internal features of objects. In addition, students learn about dimensioning and tolerancing, which includes understanding different dimensioning systems and methods used to specify allowable variations in size. The course also focuses on assembly and detail drawings, teaching how to prepare and interpret drawings of individual components as well as complete assemblies. Finally, it provides an introduction to computer-aided design (CAD), familiarizing students with basic CAD software and drawing techniques used in modern engineering design.
