Course details

This course is designed for third-year undergraduate Electrical Engineering students to build a strong foundation in electrical power system engineering. It starts with an introduction to the structure and importance of modern power systems. Students will learn the per unit system and understand how it simplifies power system calculations. The course explains transmission line parameters and their practical calculation methods. Different models of transmission lines are discussed to analyze system behavior accurately. Basic load flow methods are introduced to study voltage, power, and current in power networks. The course also covers short-circuit analysis to understand fault conditions in power systems. The method of symmetrical components is explained to analyze unbalanced systems easily. Students will study unbalanced fault analysis in detail. Basic concepts of power system stability are introduced to understand safe and reliable operation of power systems.
