Course details

This course introduces the basic ideas of stability and control for nonlinear systems that are commonly described using differential equations. It starts by explaining how to analyze the behavior of nonlinear systems over time, especially whether a system remains stable or becomes unstable. A major focus is on Lyapunov methods, which provide simple and powerful tools to study system stability without solving complex equations. The course then shows how these ideas are used in designing controllers for both linear and nonlinear systems. Participants will learn how to handle uncertainties and disturbances using robust control techniques. Adaptive control concepts are introduced to deal with systems whose parameters change over time.
