Questions and Answers

Q: You're on site during early commissioning and searching "chilled water pump running but no flow at AHU coils". Primary CHW pump amps are low, DP across the pump is near zero, and strainers were cleaned yesterday. What failure mode best explains all observations?

A: Principle: Centrifugal pumps develop almost no head when rotation is reversed. Applied here: Low amps, near-zero DP, and no branch flow despite a clean strainer line up with a pump moving water the wrong way. Common trap: Option B fits low flow, but you'd usually see unstable amps and some head before total collapse.
